My mom just had her 50th birthday, and as usual with my mom's side of the family when celebrating my mom's birthday, they did NOTHING. No cake, no decorations, nothing except a couple of cards and a box of dollar store crap. Now, I need to make this clear: my mom and I love watching birds, and we love feeding them. My aunt, who shall remain nameless, gave my mom a card involving a bird, and to make it 'funny' added a picture of a dead tanager she had taken a couple years before to the card. Needless to say, my mom and I aren't speaking to the rest of my mom's side of the family. Tags: birthday, mother, rude Current Mood: angry

Once again, it's been too long since I last posted. I just don't do journals all that well. That aside, I've been having some difficulty in the last few months. I've been working on artwork for a book, but the quantity of images is almost too much. All of these images are also things that I've never drawn before, but it's really pushing my skills, so I can't complain too much about that. I'm just having trouble with having to do 60+ images for a single book. Work has been a bit slow, due to the recession. On the up side, working in a grocery store is one of the most stable jobs a person can get right now, as everyone needs to eat, so I don't have to worry too much about getting laid off or something like that. I've also joined Achellaith Weyr, a Pern RP forum. I have yet to start RPing, but I'm hoping to have fun with it. Tags: pern, recession, work Current Mood: busy

Well, I got a bit of excitment today. I had gone to a movie store in the middle of town to buy a DVD and while I was in the store, some guy had hidden a couple of games in his jacket and tried to sneak them out of the store, tripping the alarm of course. A couple of people gave chase, one of them driving around the next block to head him off. I bought my DVD and on the way back home, I spotted the games this guy had stolen, lying on the opposite side of the street, the thief jumped over a rather high wood fence a little ways past where he had dropped the games and hit the street. The one man who had jumped in his car pulled up in front of him after he crossed the street. I didn't recognize him at first because I never got a good look at him in the store, but when the driver of the car got out and went after him, I started chasing him as well. He got caught for a moment, then started walking away, but the other man and I stayed with him until two other men came in and pinned him against a car while we waited for the police. Fortunately, I didn't have to give a statement as I didn't get too involved other than chasing the guy. Obviously, thieves have a dumb streak in them for various reasons, as this guy seemed to think that dropping the games on the sidewalk meant he didn't have to be taken in. He also seemed to think that having a broken wrist meant that police officers shouldn't be putting handcuffs on him, so he tried resisting. I suppose it never occured to him that struggling to get free would result in hurting him further. Current Mood: calm
